What's Behind

Dulqer Salmaan created a niche for himself for feel-good and youthful romantic entertainers. His film Hey Sinamika generated immense interest among movie lovers. The film directed by choreographer Brinda hit the screens today. Let us see what Hey Sinamika offered to movie lovers.

Story Review

Aryan (Dulqer Salmaan) a foodie and Mouna (Aditi Rao Hydari) a paleontologist, fall in love with each other as they share the same tastes and get married. However, within a year, Mouna is unable to bear the over extreme possessiveness and good nature of Aryan who is too talkative and takes care of her as a househusband takes a shocking decision and contacts psychologist Dr. Malarvizhi (Kajal Aggarwal). This results in more sensational twists in the lives of Aryan, Mouna, and Malarvizhi. To find out more about it, watch Hey Sinamika on the silver screen.

Artists, Technicians Review

Director Brinda planned to cast a magic spell on movie lovers especially Genex movie lovers with a romantic entertainer with Dulqer Salmaan. Though the idea is good, she failed miserably in her attempt. She tried to highlight the effects of over possessiveness in a novel manner. However, with a weak storyline, she ran out of ideas within minutes into the narration. With silly narration, illogical scenes, and lackluster plot, she ended up testing the patience of the viewers. She failed to elevate the emotions and though she had the experienced cast, she failed to use them to the optimum. The characterizations turned out to be weak and everything fell apart. Except for a couple of scenes, there is nothing in the story that interests viewers. Brinda failed with her story, screenplay, and direction.

Dulqer Salmaan got the role tailormade for him. However, with his character not elevated properly, he passes through the motions for the entire part of the film. He tried to elevate the scenes at the end of the film but by then all has been lost. Aditi Rao Hydari at times looked beautiful and gorgeous. She played her part well showcasing various kinds of expressions and emotions according to the situation. Kajal did her role well but she did not look beautiful. She is ok with her performance. Others performed their roles accordingly.

Govind Vasantha's music is ok. Songs are well shot and but at times the placement of songs slowed the pace of the film. Preetha Jayaraman's cinematography is good. It beautified the scenes on the screen. Editing of Radha Sridhar left a lot to be desired. There are many drags in the film which resulted in viewers losing interest. Dialogues are ok. Production values are ok.

Rating Analysis

Choreographer Brinda missed the golden opportunity with Dulqer Salmaan who is a youth icon. She failed to elevate the chemistry between Dulqer, Aditi Rao Hydari, and the conflict point with Kajal. Brinda's silly stuff failed to touch the emotional chords of the viewers. Brinda failed in big-time with a wafer-thin story and was aimless in her screenplay and direction. Considering all these points CJ goes with a 1.25 rating for Hey Sinamika.
