Artists, Technicians Review:
Director Ram Narayan tried to attract viewers with comedy and emotional elements. He got good output from the entire cast. Ram Narayan came with a good story with a village atmosphere as per Telugu nativity. He however included many comedy and romantic elements that narrated the story in a slow and leisurely manner. This impacted the film's screenplay and one feels that he missed a great chance to turn the film into a full-length romantic entertainer. Though he had a good chance to turn the film into a complete romantic entertainer, he fumbled miserably. He failed to generate even a single scene that could connect with the viewers. He tried to draw inspiration from old Telugu films but unable to rework the script. He even failed to generate comedy by showing Battala Ramaswamy with his three wives. Finally, the story became outdated and the screenplay and direction didn't help the cause as it exposed his inexperience completely.
PSK. Mani's cinematography tried to show the village atmosphere naturally and realistically. Ram Narayan's music and BGM is just ok. Sagar Dadi's editing left a lot to be desired. He could have trimmed the film a lot. The length of the film tested the patience of the viewers. Rama Krishna Veerapaneni and Satish Kumar tried their best to give the best production values but they failed in their attempt.
Altaf Hussain though new slipped into the role of Batta Ramaswamy quite well. He tried to attract with his mature performance in emotional and comedy scenes. Satvika Jay attracted by her looks while Shanta Rao and Lavanya Reddy are ok. Bhadram's comedy didn't work out this time.
Advantages:
Not many
Few performances
Elements to attract B, C centres
Drawbacks:
Story, screenplay, direction
Duration
Low technical and production values
Review Rating Analysis:
Battla Ramaswamy Biopikku directed by Ram Narayan had few comedy and emotional elements. Had the director paid attention and worked more on elevating them, it could have done wonders. But show pace, weak screenplay and director failing to catch the pulse of the viewers undid the so-called biopic. CJ going by the story and performances goes with 2 ratings for Battala Ramaswamy.
