Frankly speaking, Mahesh Babu is second top star in Tollywood and he is expected to take the number one position after Pawan Kalyan retires from films. Mahesh Babu has strong market value in A class centers in Telugu states and overseas. He had plans to extend his trade to neighborhood state Tamil Nadu as well.
Mahesh Babu usually takes utmost care in scripts. But, once he gives nod to a project, he completely surrenders to his director and simply follows every instruction. Directors like Lingusamy and few others approached Mahesh Babu to make bilingual film with him. Nonetheless, nothing pleased the actor. Then, it’s AR Murugadoss who could get Mahesh Babu’s acceptance.
In fact, the reason for Mahesh Babu giving his approval to a subject of Spyder in which he doesn’t have much space to exhibit heroism is to introduce himself as a newcomer to Tamil cine goers. SJ Suryah has got better marks than Mahesh Babu for his portrayal of a sadistic villain in the film. We can find more of Tamil flavor in many sequences of Suryah and Mahesh Babu might have thought of Tamils would be more than happy with them.
Neither Tamil audience nor Telugu spectators were pleased with Spyder owing to sluggish narration and lack of entertainment. What’s more, Mahesh Babu fans got disappointed to see him in a role that doesn’t have much to do.
Analysts say that, Mahesh Babu’s aim to lure Tamil movie buffs with Spyder went terribly wrong. They opine that Mahesh Babu should have opted to a better or simple script to suit tastes of both Telugu and Tamil movie lovers!
