Siddhartha Movie Review, What’s Behind: Chakra Vakam and Mogali Rekulu are the two TV serials helped in promoting this flick for mere presence of Sagar aka RK Naidu as hero. Let us see, how great is this small screen hero’s jump onto bug screen?
Siddhartha Movie Story: Surya (Sagar) belongs to a powerful faction family in Rayalaseema and is deported to Malaysia escaping from rival batch. Surya renamed as Siddharth in Malaysia falls in love with good looking Sahasra (Ragini Nandwani) and their relation turns physical as Sahasra becomes pregnant. Situations in Seema turn friendly and opponent family (Kota Srinivas Rao, Ajay) negotiates for a peaceful mediation thereby offering their daughter’s (Sakshi Chowdary) hand to Surya. Having heard the whole story of Surya turned Siddhartha, poor Sahasra hides herself away for the sake of Seema. Meanwhile, Sahasra unknowingly arrives in Seema as event organizer to look after the wedding arrangements of Surya. What’s next is climax.
Siddhartha Movie Artists and Technicians: Worked nearly 16 years in Pawan Kalyan shadow, director KV Dayanand Reddy’s thought process is still struck in 1980 and 90s. When you have such a penurious storyline provided by Vissu, at least screenplay has to be racy and riveting. Dayanand Reddy’s screen writing is so substandard providing enough leisure for Paruchuri Brothers to pen loose-fitting dialogues. Primarily Reddy missed the basic advantage in his hero by playing spoilsport on heroine Ragini. Direction wise, there’s no worth appreciating moments except a chase and action episode. Senior cameraman S Gopal Reddy is the lifeline for entire movie. His sharp visuals and splendor on screen arrested audience. Mani Sharma gave an average music score for songs and RR too. Prawin Pudi’s editing is substandard. Lastly, the production standards from Ramadoota Creations and Dasari Kiran Kumar are fairly decent.
As an artist, Sagar maintained same rigidity in RK Naidu. Deeply intense eyes are his major asset which is just marginally explored here. There are very few dialogues on him. Action wise, he was fine but emotional and drama wise, his body language is unfit. Ragini Nandwani is in fact the major story driving force. Unfortunately, she isn’t gorgeous looking and an underperformer. A well established or at least a known face could have done major difference. Sakshi Chowdary is appalling. Kota Srinivas Rao is wasted. Ajay is at regular business. Ranadheer, Subba Raju, Sana made their presence felt. Sathyam Rajesh, Thagubothu Ramesh entertained to an extent.
Siddhartha Advantages:
Mogali Rekulu Sagar
Camera Work
Siddhartha Drawbacks:
Age Old Story
Lethargic Screenplay
Slow, Boring Narration
Wrong Casting
Climax
Siddhartha Rating Analysis: The title design and trailer stuff promised Siddhartha as action packed mass masala commercial entertainer. But, what we got in the movie is a love story having some resemblances with Mahesh Babu’s ‘Yuvaraju’ or we can say when ‘Yuvaraju’ meets ‘Indra’ or ‘Samarasimha Reddy,’ it’s loosely ‘Siddhartha.’ Apparently, Sagar’s presence as a strongly durable hero is overshadowed by excessively dealt Ragini’s pregnant love story and drama thereafter. A director needs to have minimum accuracy in steering the content.
Movie directly introduces Surya on board in a Malaysian bound flight with Sahasra in it seeding for the romantic track. Unfortunately, it takes entire first half for their romance to germinate and heroine getting pregnant. In parallel, the situations in Seema are dealt powerlessly. Film falls neither in romantic nor serious faction genre as the moving gets tougher. Supporting artists make it more gruesome.
Second half, the whole base shifts to Seema and into the marriage environment. Sakshi Chowdary’s characterization is shabby and derisory. As director fell deficient at content, the comedy track of Sathyam Rajesh, Thagubothu Ramesh as event organizers added by Ragini create a show of confusion comedy. Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao’s father character is dismally pathetic with inconsistency. Towards pre climax and climax, story pivots back on to Sagar, Ragini lecturing a peace message to Seema.
In totality, ‘Siddhartha’ isn’t a favorable debut for Sagar as big screen hero. He needs to find those subjects suit his stiff body language. Love stories aren’t his cup of tea. With an age old team of Mani Sharma, S Gopal Reddy, Paruchuri Brothers and others, it’s a big ask to expect something new. CJ rates ‘Siddhartha’ with 2 stars. How far the film pays commercially depends on how far Sagar’s TV following is converted at ticket counters.
