Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu Review, What’s Behind: Collection King Manchu Mohan Babu’s comedy timing needs no introductions and ‘Allari’ Naresh is by himself a heroic brand for current generation Telugu cinema comedy. When a combination of these two is made possible by Manchu Vishnu and Srinivas Reddy, obviously we expect a laughter riot. Let us see, how far this ‘Manchu-Kanchu’ entertained us?
Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu Story: All it begins like a sequel or continuation to Mohan Babu Allari Mogudu movie where Bhakta Vatsalam Naidu (Mohan Babu), a businessman is having two wives, Surya Kantham (Meena) and Priyamvada (Ramya Krishna). He is maintaining two families secretly from 25 years. For Surya Kantham, there is daughter Sruti (Poorna) and Priyamvada has son Gautham (Varun Sandesh). Problem starts when Gautham keeps an eye on Sruti crossing the blood relation. Here Bhakta Vatsalam Naidu ropes in Balaraju (Allari Naresh) with the identity of Gautham so that Sruti dislikes Gautham. However, new problem arises for Naidu when Balaraju and Sruti kick start their own love story. How funny was Naidu and Balaraju cat and mouse game? What happened finally?
Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu Artists and Technicians: Starting it from story, screenplay and direction, Srinivas Reddy is struck in 1990s with his outdated thoughts, desolate treatment and dingy direction. How did he visualize Mohan Babu in such a tattered characterization is still unknown? I really doubt, whether there is something like a screenplay for this film? Direction wise, which section of audience Srinivas Reddy has really targeted? This is pathetically lowest standards seen in recent times. Everything is utterly predictable and there’s no chance left for us to use the brains and laugh wholeheartedly. Sreedhar Seepana should stop attacking the audience with his rhyming writing weapons. Instead he should pen up those lines which fit into the conceptual soul. Koti, Raghu Kunche and Achu as music directors have done their own share of damage with irrelevantly placed songs and obsolete BGM. Camera work from Bala Murugan is quite resplendent while Goutham Raju editing is tediously run-down. On to production values, 24 Frames Factory has spent a lavish budget for sure.
Performance wise, Mohan Babu looked artificial and out of his comfort zone. There is no detailing about Naidu character which made it hard to connect with audience. Except mouthing lengthy rhyming lines, there is nowhere Naidu’s role provided entertainment. Allari Naresh continued his best of worst form with one more miserable selection for his milestone 50th. Ramya Krishna and Meena, this is not they two are known for. Ali as Mohan Babu’s friend served a relief for while. Poorna became a little hefty and has nothing much to do like Varun Sandesh. Rest does not need a mention.
Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu Rating Analysis: Little into the past, ‘Allari Mogudu’ is a super hit just because of hilarious treatment and confusion comedy generated in Raghavendra Rao style coupled with amazing music and impressive visuals. No one can match these standards and director Srinivas Reddy’s futile attempt to rehash the same theme in a recycled format never stood in right spirit. We are just informed that, MMAK is a Telugu remake to hit Marathi film and this is further pitiful on the part of Srinivas Reddy’s failure.
With a flow of routine scenes, first half starts on a sluggish note. Much of run time is wrapped up with an illusion that audiences are laughing to our comic treatment. Tremendous actors like Mohan Babu and Allari Naresh look totally fainted with ersatz faces in bedraggled episodes. All those advantages the subject had inherently to generate laughter are wasted in loiter first half. With little hopes on second half, Srinivas Reddy lives up to our expectations continuing the turmoil recklessly. The marriage episodes in climax come as frustration peak in audience.
All in all, MMAK is a recycled version of Allari Mogudu with same age-old screenplay and outdated treatment. This is again an equivalently painful film like ‘Soukhaym’ released in this week. To discuss on commercial viability, please no questions because Cinejosh respects MMAK with 1.75 stars.
