Delhi HC rejected Sourav Ganguly plea against Doosra

Plabita Borthakur, Ankur Vikal and Samidha Guru's starrer 'Doosra: India's Other Freedom Struggle' , a sports drama directed by Abhinay Deo landed in problem ahead of its release on 23 October 2026.
Star cricketer Sourav Ganguly approached Delhi High Court over a violation of his 'personality rights' and sought its direction for stalling the film release. However, the Delhi High Court didnot give any respite to him and Justice Dinesh Bhatt made it clear that he has not stopped the release of the film in theatres. "I have said no stay, so the film can go on,"
Doosra is said to be story of a middle-class Rajasthani girl inspired by certain sporting events involving the former India captain. The movie (Doosra) is being promoted on Sourav Ganguly. Sourav Ganguly is the actual hero of the movie. He and his life are the main theme of the movie," Ganguly's counsel said, offering to pay the "advance booking amount" to defer the release.
"This is blackmailing on the last day," said the filmmakers' counsel, informing the court that over a hundred theatres have been booked and advance payments have been made.
