Suhas Clarifies About Mandaadi Directors Remarks

Mandaadi director Mathimaran Pugazhendhi has clarified his comments about Suhas at the film’s success meet, saying his remarks referred to comments allegedly made by an individual and were not aimed at Telugu people, Telugu audiences or the Telugu film industry. He also expressed regret over any misunderstanding caused by his words.

At the success event, Mathimaran recalled that Suhas had been affected by comments about his appearance before joining Mandaadi. He said he had promised to respond if the film succeeded. In his clarification, the director recalled praising Telugu cinema at the Hyderabad pre release event and stressed his respect for its industry and audience.

Suhas also responded amid the discussion, but chose not to directly debate the controversy. Instead, he thanked Telugu audiences for supporting his journey from YouTube short films to character roles and eventually leading parts. He said their encouragement opened opportunities, including his association with Mandaadi, and thanked viewers across states for embracing his performance.

Suhas built recognition through Telugu films including Colour Photo and Writer Padmabhushan before making his Tamil debut with Mandaadi. He plays Sattapuli opposite Soori, marking a significant change in image. His performance has received attention alongside the film’s theatrical success, with reports placing its worldwide gross near ₹80 crore after eight days.

The controversy therefore stems from how Mathimaran’s original comments were interpreted, rather than a stated criticism of Tollywood as an industry. His clarification specifically separates the alleged remarks from Telugu cinema and its audiences, while Suhas’ message highlights the support he says he has received throughout his career. Mandaadi released in Tamil and Telugu on September 10.
