Naga Vamsi Emerges As Key Contender For Jailer 2 Telugu Rights

The Telugu theatrical rights of Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 have triggered considerable trade interest ahead of its October 15 release. Sun Pictures is reportedly quoting around ₹55 crore plus GST, while Naga Vamsi is said to have offered approximately ₹45 crore plus GST. The final deal is yet to be officially announced.

Dil Raju, who was involved in the Telugu release of Jailer, is reportedly not actively pursuing the Jailer 2 deal. His company had acquired Yash’s Toxic AP - Telangana rights for ₹100 crore on an advance based commission arrangement earlier this year. Toxic subsequently underperformed expectations, creating additional commercial pressure around the distribution business.

Jailer remains an important reference point for the sequel’s Telugu business, having delivered strong theatrical returns in the region. Earlier reports indicated that Asian Suniel, Dil Raju and Suresh Babu handled the Telugu release on a commission basis. For Jailer 2, however, the makers appear to be pursuing a more conventional rights deal.

Current trade reports suggest negotiations have increasingly centred on Naga Vamsi, although the final agreement has not been officially confirmed. With Rajinikanth returning as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, Nelson Dilipkumar directing and Anirudh Ravichander composing, Jailer 2 is scheduled for worldwide release on October 15, 2026.
