Protests Escalate Over Aamir Khan And Gauri Spratt Wedding

Bollywood star Aamir Khan married Gauri Spratt in a private registered ceremony at his Bandra home in July 2026. The event was attended by close family and friends. Following the news, Ayodhya based religious leader Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya announced a Rs 5 crore bounty on the actor.

Acharya, head of Tapasvi Chhawani, told IANS he would reward anyone who attacks Khan and bear their legal costs. He accused Khan of promoting "love jihad" through marriage. The statement came after Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane called Khan a "brand ambassador of love jihad" and urged boycotts.

Before political remarks, Bajrang Dal members protested by burning Khan’s effigy. They alleged he deliberately married Hindu women. Officials clarified Spratt is not Hindu. The marriage is Khan’s third, after Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, and was conducted privately without religious rituals.

Police and public safety groups condemned the threats as incitement to violence. Legal experts say offering a bounty violates IPC sections on criminal intimidation. Khan has not responded publicly. The controversy has sparked debate on celebrity privacy, communal narratives, and freedom of personal choice in India.
