Vijay is now the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He took oath on May 10, 2026 after his TVK party won big in the state elections. But his last film Jana Nayagan still has problems. The movie has not got a censor certificate yet. Many fans thought the release would be easy after Vijay became CM. But the film is still stuck. The team wanted a Bakrid release in late May. That plan is now cancelled.

The makers are looking at June 19 as the new release date. That is three days before Vijay’s birthday on June 22. It would be a big gift for fans. But the censor process is not done. The Central Board of Film Certification has issues with some scenes. The film went to the revising committee many times since early 2026. The delays are causing money problems for producer KVN Productions. Theatre deals and OTT deals are also on hold. Every week of delay is adding to the cost.

Jana Nayagan is a political action film directed by H. Vinoth. It is the official remake of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari. Vijay plays a strong leader in the film. Mamitha Baiju and Pooja Hegde are the female leads. Anirudh Ravichander has given the music. The film has high action scenes and strong dialogues. It also has a social message that matches Vijay’s political image. The movie was made on a budget of around 200 crores.

This is Vijay’s last film before he works full time in politics. So the craze is huge across Tamil Nadu and other states. Fans are waiting for a clear update on the censor certificate. Trade experts say the film can do big numbers if it releases on June 19. For now, the team is talking to officials to finish the process soon. Everyone hopes the Jana Nayagan hurdles end before Vijay’s birthday.
