It is known that Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) approached Madras High Court seeking a ban on movie reviews for three days from the release date on social media platforms that include YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X.

They sought directions from the Court to the Union Government and The State Government. However the court after hearing the writ petition asked the association that they can file a complaint with the police if they find anyone is maligning their film and spreading hatred.

The judge also mentioned that banning film reviews amount to acting against freedom of speech. The judge postponed the case to a later date and directed the social media channels and the Union Government on the steps they have taken to prevent film criticism.

It is known that TFAPA on November 20 passed a resolution asking theatre owners to ban social media channels from airing reviews and they did the same stopping the youtube channels from entering the theatres.Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) and Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council (TNPC)  felt that the films like Vettaiyan, Kanguva and Indian 2 got affected due to negative reviews.
