Kangana powerful take on Emergency delay and IC 184 The Kandahar Hijack.Kangana Ranaut has spoken out against the postponement of her upcoming film "Emergency," which was scheduled to release on September 6th. The film has faced opposition from certain Sikh outfits who claim it portrays the community in a negative light. The controversy stems from the film's portrayal of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a controversial figure who was at the forefront of the Sikh separatist movement.

During a recent appearance at the News18 India Chaupal event in New Delhi, Kangana strongly defended her film, stating that it has been cleared by the censor board after being supervised by four historians. She argued that only a small section of the community has objected to the film, questioning those who defend Bhindranwale.

"It is our history which has been intentionally hidden. We are not told about this. Bhale logo ka zamaana nahi hai," she said, adding, "My film is ready to be released. It has received certification from the censor board. 4 historians supervised our films. We have the proper documents. There is nothing wrong with my film. But some people call Bhindranwale a saint, revolutionary or a leader. They threatened via pleas (to ban her film). I have also received threats. Previous governments have declared Khalistanis as terrorists. He was not a saint who was sitting in a temple with an AK47.”

She further emphasized that "only some people have an objection to my film, they are also inciting others. I don’t think 99 percent of the people of Punjab consider Bhindranwale a saint. He is a terrorist and if he is a terrorist, my film should be released."

Kangana also expressed her frustration over the financial losses incurred due to the film's postponement, questioning why the industry should continue to "play safe" when portraying historical figures.

"Till when will we continue to play safe? I do not think like this. I never thought people will have an objection to Bhindranwale being shown as a terrorist. I am being tortured. It is so embarrassing for me. We also faced losses. My movie was cancelled just 4 days back," she said.

In addition to the controversy surrounding "Emergency," Kangana also addressed the recent controversy surrounding the Netflix series "IC184: The Kandahar Hijack," which faced criticism for its portrayal of the hijackers. She called for stricter censorship on OTT platforms, stating that the current censor board is "redundant" and that the unregulated content available on these platforms poses a threat to children.

"Censor board is a redundant body today. I raised this during the previous parliament session also. The kind of content is being shown on OTT or on YouTube, we are scared that a child might see it. It is a matter of great concern. We argue so much with the censor board – ‘Why have you shown this blood’ and all. I feel we need to rethink. OTT needs censorship first," Kangana said.

Kangana's stance on both controversies has sparked further debate about historical accuracy, censorship, and the role of the entertainment industry in portraying sensitive subjects. It remains to be seen how the ongoing controversies will affect the release of "Emergency" and the future of censorship in the digital age.
