Actor Akash Puri, son of renowned director Puri Jagannadh, has announced a significant change on his birthday, opting to adopt a new name: AKASH JAGANNADH.

The actor teased the change on Wednesday, leaving fans speculating about a new film or career shift. On Thursday, he unveiled his new identity on Instagram, sharing a photo with the caption, "There is a change in my name; it's no longer Akash Puri, I am now AKASH JAGANNADH."

Fans have flooded social media with birthday wishes and encouraging messages, expressing support for his new journey. One fan wrote, "Anna you will rise in the movie industry soon, happy birthday darling," while another coined him the moniker "AJ."

A source close to the actor told Hindustan Times that the name change is a bid to "change his luck." Akash and his father Puri have faced a string of setbacks at the box office, most notably with the Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday-starrer "Liger."

Akash's acting journey began as a child actor in 2007, appearing in films like "Chirutha" (starring Ram Charan), "Ek Niranjan" (starring Prabhas), and "Businessman" (starring Mahesh Babu). He made his debut as a lead in the 2015 film "Andhra Pori," a remake of the Marathi film "Timepass." He later appeared in "Mehbooba" (2018), "Romantic," and "Chor Bazaar."

Despite his numerous attempts, none of his films have achieved significant success. As Akash embarks on this new chapter with a fresh identity, fans eagerly await his next project and hope for a career resurgence.
