Actor Vikram's long delayed, upcoming film Thangalaan, which has been in the making for sometime now, has finally locked a release date. The Pa Ranjith directorial is now scheduled to hit theatres on August 15, on the occasion of Independence day.
Thangalaan also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan in key roles. The film's cast also includes Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, and Hari Krishnan. Team has officially announced the release date earlier today.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in the early 1900s, Thangalaan is a historical adventure that narrates the role of oppressed communities in the exploration of gold in the South of India.
On the technical team, the film has music by GV Prakash, cinematography by A Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK. Tamil Prabha is the film's co-writer. Studio Green and Neelam Productions are backing Thangalaan.
