Magical Combination of Imtiaz Ali Amar Singh Chamkila On 12 April

Some combinations create magic whenever they happen. One such combination is Dircetor Imtiaz Ali and Oscar Winning Music Director AR Rahman. The duo are coming together again for a music film titled 'Amar Singh Chamkila' starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. The film will soon release on Netflix. The film is based on the untold story of Punjab’s original rockstar, the highest record-selling artist of his time, Amar Singh Chamkila. The release date of the film was unveiled with a brand new poster.

Often referred to as the 'Elvis Presley of Punjab', Amar Singh Chamkila was a rockstar in true sense, back in the day. Diljit Dosanjh has reprised the late veteran's role, in a film directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film also stars Parineeti Chopra, who plays as Amarjot, Chamkila’s wife and singing partner. The film will release on April 12 on Netflix.

'Amar Singh Chamkila' has been shot in real locations. The film promises to transport the audiences to the vibrant and rhythmic world of Punjab's folk music, right to the rustic Akhadaas (live music performances in villages) where Chamkila’s voice once reverberated.

AR Rahman composing the film's music and Irshad Kamil writing the lyrics, the audience will once again experience the enchantment of a Rahman-Imtiaz-Irshad collaboration. What's more exciting is that both Diljit and Parineeti have contributed their voices to some of the songs.
