Selvaraghavan joins Dhanush Raayan. The makers of Dhanush's upcoming film, "Raayan," have been steadily revealing intriguing character posters, and the latest one features director-turned-actor Selvaraghavan in a gripping role in the gangster drama.
The new poster, presented in a monochromatic theme, showcases Selvaraghavan giving an intense look, wearing his trademark glasses, and glancing sideways. The backdrop of polluted factories adds a mysterious and intriguing element to the character, hinting at a deeper connection between the character and the setting. The poster has captured the attention of many viewers who are eager to see Selvaraghavan's performance in a Dhanush directorial.
Selvaraghavan, who is also Dhanush's brother, has previously collaborated with Dhanush as a director and screenwriter on several successful films, including "Thulluvadho Ilamai" (2002), "Pudhupettai" (2006), "Yaaradi Nee Mohini" (2008), and "Mayakkam Enna" (2011).
Dhanush expressed his gratitude for directing his brother in the film by sharing the new character poster of Selvaraghavan. He wrote, "Never thought I'll direct you someday @Selvaraghavan."
Earlier, there were rumors about the film's script being a reworked version of a script written by Selvaraghavan. However, Selvaraghavan clarified that he has not contributed to the script of "Raayan." In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he stated, "I clarify that I have NOTHING to do with ‘RAAYAN' s script or scripting process. It's purely @dhanushkraja's dream script, and now he has made it into his own film. I am merely an actor in this project."
"Raayan" or "D 50" marks the second directorial venture of Dhanush and his 50th film in his acting career. The movie is set to be a gangster drama set against the backdrop of North Madras, with Dhanush rumored to be portraying the character of a cook who was once a gangster. The film also stars SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram, and Sundeep Kishan in pivotal roles. Actress Dushara Vijayan plays the female lead opposite Dhanush, with music composed by Academy Award-winning composer A R Rahman.
