Megastar Chiranjeevi, a luminary not only in the realm of cinema but also as a compassionate humanitarian, was recently honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan by the central government. Gaddam Sammayya, hailing from the Devarappula mandal of Janagaon district, has made an indelible mark as a Chindu Yakshagana artist, having delivered over 19,000 performances. Renowned for his portrayal of Keechaka in the acclaimed stage play "Keechakavadha," he has been honored with accolades such as the Telugu University Merit Award in 1994, the Kala Ratna Award in 1995, and a recognition from the Telangana state government in 2017.

Dr. Anandachari Velu, a pivotal figure in the reconstruction of the Yadadri temple using Krishna stone, served as the main sthapathi and dedicated countless hours as a sculptor. His intricate work on the walls of the Ashtabhuja mandapa, blending Kakatiya, Dravida, and Chola styles, reflects his profound expertise. Trained at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, Dr. Velu played a crucial role in preserving the architectural heritage.

During the gathering, Chiranjeevi lauded Gaddam Sammayya for breathing life into the endangered art form of Chindu Yakshagana. He also extended warm congratulations to Dr. Anandachari Velu for receiving the Padma Shri. Expressing gratitude to the central government for recognizing the contributions of such artists, Megastar urged both the central and state governments to safeguard traditional arts, support artists, and care for their families.

Dr. Anandachari Velu and Gaddam Sammayya expressed their immense joy and gratitude for the honor bestowed upon them by Megastar Chiranjeevi, who graciously invited them to his home. The occasion was not only a celebration of individual achievements but also a plea for the preservation and encouragement of our rich artistic heritage.
