Superstar Rajinikanth's latest film 'Lal Salaam' is scheduled to release on 9th February. A grand audio launch event was held recently where comments during the speech of Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the director of the film came under the scanner. On January 26, during 'Lal Salaam' event, Aishwarya came under fire from the public when the latter was heard declaring that her father was "not a Sanghi". 

Aishwarya clarified during the audio launch that her father was not a Sanghi and that, in contrast to what some people had said on social media, he would not have performed Lal Salaam. Her statement received backlash from online users.

Rajinikanth has now stepped forward to support his daughter. Rajini finally spoke up on Monday, stating that she never intended to use the word "Sanghi" negatively. Rajinikanth said, "My daughter never said that Sanghi was a bad word. She just questioned why was her father labeled that way if when he was into spirituality."

With Lal Salaam, Aishwarya will make her directorial comeback. Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth are playing lead roles while Rajinikanth will be seen in an extended guest role as Mumbai Don, Moideen Bhai. AR Rahman composed the music while Lyca Productions backed this sports drama with religious conflicts. The film is set to release on February 9 in theaters.
