Animal makers resolve OTT differences. On Monday, the Delhi High Court was apprised of an amicable resolution between Cine1 Private Limited and Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (T-Series) regarding their contractual disputes concerning the recent film 'Animal,' starring Ranbir Kapoor. Cine1 Studios Private Ltd had filed a suit seeking a stay on the movie's release on OTT platforms, alleging breach of agreement by T-Series, which led to the denial of Cine1's rightful profit share and intellectual property rights.

Legal representatives for both Cine1 and T-Series informed the court that a settlement agreement had been reached, clearing the path for the film's release on OTT platforms. Justice Sanjeev Narula acknowledged these submissions and directed the parties to officially record the settlement agreement. The court is set to further consider the matter on January 24 for disposal.

Earlier, on January 18, the high court had issued summons in response to the suit, with Justice Narula admitting the suit and granting time to the defendants to submit a written statement. The court had mandated the defendants to file an affidavit of admission/denial of the plaintiff's documents along with the written statement.

Senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, representing Cine1, asserted that T-Series had failed to share financial details and had proceeded without Cine1's approval in incurring expenses and promoting/releasing the film. T-Series, represented by senior advocate Amit Sibal, argued that Cine1 had relinquished intellectual property rights through an August 2, 2022 amendment, receiving Rs 2.6 crore in return. Cine1 emphasized T-Series' non-compliance with credit and publicity agreements, seeking a stay on the release of 'Animal' on OTT until the stipulated terms are met. The court will continue to examine the intricacies of the case on January 24.
