Taapsee shocker about Animal. Taapsee Pannu, who captivated audiences in her recent film 'Dunki,' where she shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan, has been making headlines for her insightful take on Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal.' In a recent interview, the 'Thappad' actress shed light on her decision not to take on a project similar to the Ranbir Kapoor starrer.

During an engaging conversation with Raj Shamani, Taapsee was questioned about the 2023 blockbuster 'Animal,' and she expressed her perspective on the film. She emphasized the importance of exercising one's power responsibly, especially in the realm of Bollywood, where stardom comes with a certain soft power. Taapsee shared, "Keeping the reality in mind, I need to exercise my power because Bollywood or being a star and actor gives you that soft power. And with power comes responsibility. So it is my opinion, and I am not one of those who will tell XYZ actor that they should not do these films. They have their own choice; we are in a free country and we have a freedom of choice. I wouldn't do it (Animal) is what I am saying."

'Animal,' which hit theaters on December 1, 2023, achieved remarkable success at the box office. However, it also faced criticism for its depiction of toxic masculinity, misogyny, and the excessive use and glorification of violence. In the same conversation, Taapsee addressed the critiques, saying, "A lot of people told me too much about it (Animal). Look, I am not an extremist, so I agree to disagree with a lot of people... Don't compare it to Hollywood and say if you liked Gone Girl, how can you not like Animal? You are catering to a different audience. In Hollywood, people don't start copying actors' hairstyles from movies or using a film's line in real life. They also don't start stalking women after seeing it in a movie. But all this happens in our country."

Taapsee continued to underline the disparity between Bollywood and Hollywood, stating, "This is our reality. You cannot compare our film industries with Hollywood and say, 'Why are these pseudos talking like this about Animal when they can enjoy Gone Girl as an art? Understand the difference.'"

The versatile actress, last seen in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki,' is set to grace the screen in the upcoming film 'Woh Ladki Hai Kahan,' directed by Arshad Syed, where she will share the spotlight with Pratik Gandhi and Prateik Babbar. As Taapsee continues to make thoughtful choices in her filmography, her candid insights provide a valuable perspective on the evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
