The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of Special Cell, Delhi Police, arrested the alleged mastermind, Eemani Naveen (24), who is said to have created and posted the deepfake videos on social media. Naveen, a B-tech graduate from a reputed engineering college in Chennai, was running a fan page for Rashmika and had created fan pages for two other celebrities.

The case unfolded when the deepfake video of Rashmika surfaced online in November last year, triggering a nationwide controversy about digital safety. The video, which depicted a woman resembling Rashmika in a black swimsuit, quickly went viral, leading to widespread discussions. Following public outcry and support from the film industry, the Delhi Police took swift action, culminating in the arrest of the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, IFSO Unit, Hemant Tiwari, revealed that Naveen deleted the controversial posts and changed the name of his Instagram channel after realizing the magnitude of the controversy. Despite attempts to erase digital evidence, the police successfully gathered information leading to his arrest.

On the professional front, Rashmika Mandanna was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's "Animal" alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor. She is set to appear in "Pushpa 2" and has the film "Chaava" in the pipeline, scheduled for release on December 6, 2024.
