In November 2023, a deepfake video showcasing Rashmika Mandanna surfaced on various social media platforms, causing widespread alarm about the potential misuse of this technology. The video skillfully replaced Mandanna's visage with that of British-Indian influencer Zara Patel, who was depicted in a black workout attire.

Promptly responding to the issue, the Delhi Police launched a case invoking several sections of the Indian Penal Code, addressing forgery, damage to reputation, and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, focusing on identity theft and privacy violation.

Expressing her dismay, Rashmika Mandanna, celebrated for her roles in movies like "Pushpa," "Mission Majnu," and the highly anticipated "Animal," took to social media to share her sentiments. She expressed being "deeply hurt" by the circulation of the distressing deepfake video, shedding light on the emotional toll it has taken on her.
