Guntur Kaaram, the family entertainer, directed by Trivikram, starring Mahesh Babu, Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead, is off to a fantastic start at the box office with crowds enjoying the mother-son sentiment, humour, music and action segments. As the film collects over Rs 212 crores worldwide, producer S Naga Vamsi, on behalf of Haarika and Hassine Creations, shared his happiness.
>The film has completed a week’s run and is performing well at the box office. It has reached a break even stage across most areas. There was a little anxiety initially, but family audiences and regular crowds have completely enjoyed the mother-son sentiment and helped our revenue.
>We felt the film wasn’t projected properly, may be we could’ve avoided the 1 am show, but it gained steam eventually. There was no compromise on quality despite the time pressure. It is truly the content that has reached out to viewers. There was a negative campaign but it overcame it and put up a good show.
>Mahesh Babu has been positive about the film since day one, he asked us not to worry and his judgement paid off. It’s his trust that gave us a lot of confidence. His presence won over masses and family crowds alike. We are very happy with the collections. Trivikram (garu) will also be giving an interview in the coming week.
>There was a campaign identified by Book My Show where a few bots rated the film without watching it. We’ll receive a response soon. In retrospect we should’ve promoted it as a family, mother-son drama, people perhaps perceived it as a mass film. We’re planning to host a success meet shortly. Reviews haven’t altered the film’s prospects. The collections we’ve reported are genuine.
>Athadu and Khaleja were genre-based films. Guntur Kaaram is a commercial film released for the festival season and has ensured profits for most parties involved. It’s unfair to call it a ‘one-man’ show. While Mahesh Babu delivered a fabulous performance, Trivikram deserves credit for extracting his potential to the fullest.
