'Animal,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, emerged as one of the most-discussed as well as biggest blockbustwr movies of 2023. Following ‘Jawan’, it secured the position of the second-highest-grossing film, garnering over Rs 800 crores worldwide and surpassing Rs 550 crores at the Indian box office. Despite facing criticism for its brutal violence and calling it mysogynist, this emotional crime action-drama broken all barriers to become one of the top-earning Hindi films of 2023.
The movie garnered varied feedback from both critics and viewers. Now, for those eager to watch the film on a streaming platform and haven’t seen it in theatres, there’s good news. As per a recent report, ‘Animal’, will be accessible on Netflix starting January 26, 2024, coinciding with Republic Day. Even though Netflix tried to bring it on January 15 cashing in Pongal holidays down south, Bollywood policy of seven week window between Theatrical and OTT releases made it to release on 26th January.
However, there has been no official statement from either the movie’s producers or its main cast regarding this matter. Moreover, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga hinted at an extended OTT version. In an interview, Vanga shared that he would incorporate scenes cut from the theatrical release, making the OTT version longer than its original three hours and 21 minutes. “I should have left the 3 hours 30 minutes instead of 3 hours 21 minutes. Now, I will be using those 5-6 minutes extra,” revealed the director.
Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Tripthi Dimri, Charu Shankar, Babloo Prithviraj, and Shakti Kapoor played pivotal roles in the film. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar, and Murad Khetani under the banners of T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, Harshavardhan Rameshwar provided the background score.
