C.Kalyan on Congress Governments. The Telugu film industry is anticipating the revival of the prestigious Nandi Awards, thanks to the newly-formed Congress government in Telangana. Plans are underway to reinstate the awards in April or May of this year, bringing joy to Tollywood. Veteran producer C Kalyan, who recently met Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, expressed optimism about the revival, describing it as "golden days for Tollywood in the days to come."
C Kalyan praised the Chief Minister for his humility and warmth during their meeting. He recalled the flourishing period of Tollywood in Hyderabad under previous Congress governments in the 70s and 80s, emphasizing the support and encouragement provided by late Dr. Rajasekhar Reddy, the then Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh.
The veteran producer emphasized that, apart from Congress, no other government has shown the same benevolence and support for the Telugu film industry. He noted that the Nandi Awards, which were discontinued in 2016 by the erstwhile TRS government, were a significant celebration for Tollywood filmmakers, actors, and directors for many decades.
C.Kalyan, along with a Tollywood delegation, also met Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who was described as friendly and encouraging. The minister assured support to boost the prospects of the Telugu film industry.
While the exact details are yet to be finalized, including a possible rechristening of the awards, it is expected that the Congress-led government's initiative will bring back the era of celebrating the best talent in Telugu cinema. The industry is eagerly awaiting notifications and announcements, anticipating a meeting with the government soon.
