Tollywood banking on Top Stars films. After an eventful 2023, where Tollywood garnered global recognition, including Oscars, and achieved numerous memorable successes, the industry is eagerly anticipating an exciting start to 2024. With several top stars strategically planning their film releases, Tollywood is placing significant bets on the new year.

Festive Fervor:

Sankranti, a time-honored festival, is synonymous with blockbuster films. Leading the charge this year is the much-anticipated Mahesh Babu-starrer "Guntur Kaaram," directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Positioned as a mass action drama, the film has generated immense expectations, fueled further by the recently released promo songs that have heightened anticipation. Traditionally, Sankranti has proven to be a propitious period for Mahesh Babu, with some of his biggest hits, such as "Okkadu," "Takkari Donga," "Businessman," "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu," and "Sarileru Neekevvaru." The superstar is optimistic about the success of "Guntur Kaaram."

Additionally, Nagarjuna’s "Naa Saami Ranga," Venkatesh’s "Saindhav," and Ravi Teja's "Eagle" are also slated for release during the festive season. Despite being established stars, these actors are seeking redemption and a consolidation of their positions in the industry.

"The beauty of Sankranti is that the festival can accommodate more than 5 releases. It has happened in the past too. With all the films eyeing wider releases, finding theaters could be a challenge, and the revenue might be split among several releases. Nonetheless, it’s that time of the year when audiences love to flock to theaters," remarks a film distributor.

Pan-India Films:

With regional boundaries blurring, many stars are venturing into Pan-India films. Notable releases include Jr NTR's "Devara-Part 1," scheduled for April, featuring Janhvi Kapoor for a wider Hindi audience. Allu Arjun's "Pushpa 2" is another eagerly awaited film, following the success of its predecessor, and is set for an August release. Ram Charan's "Game Changer" and Nag Ashwin's futuristic sci-fi "Kalki 2898 AD" are also garnering attention on a global scale.

Trade analyst Joginder Tuteja highlights that these Pan-India films, boasting ensemble casts and even Bollywood stars, hold immense box office potential. He predicts an exciting year for South cinema in the Hindi belt, especially if these films make a significant impact with their content.

High-Profile Launches:

In addition to the ongoing projects, 2024 promises high-profile launches, including:

SSMB29 (Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli’s film)

Spirit (Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film)

#NTR31 (NTR and Prashanth Neel’s film)

#RC16 (Ram Charan and Buchi Babu’s film)

#AlluArjun–Trivikram’s film

With such an exciting lineup, 2024 is poised to be a thrilling year for Tollywood, featuring a blend of festive releases, Pan-India ventures, and high-profile launches.
