T-Distributors arm twisting Dil Raju. Amidst the limited availability of approximately 450 theaters in Telangana, distributors in the Nizam region find themselves facing a concern. As the festive Sankranthi season approaches in January, they are urging Dil Raju, the producer and president of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, to prevent a clash of titans at the box office.
Expressing worry, a former exhibitor-turned-distributor from Telangana states, "Telangana theatres could accommodate just two films at a time during festival days, but accommodating three or more would be a challenging task." He highlights the contrasting situation in Andhra Pradesh, where distributors can manage more films with over 750 theaters at their disposal during festivals.
As major releases like ‘Guntur Kaaram,’ ‘Saindhav,’ ‘Naa Saami Ranga,’ ‘Eagle,’ and ‘Hanu-Man’ are slated for a head-to-head clash from January 12 onwards, Telangana distributors are wary of potential financial losses. The concern is that an overcrowded release schedule could impact the opening collections. The distributor suggests a practical solution of allowing one film per day to maximize collections for each movie during the festive season.
Acknowledging the influence of content and narration novelty on a film's success, he emphasizes that cliched offerings may struggle. However, he suggests giving stars the opportunity to draw initial crowds, allowing the audience to ultimately decide the fate of the movie rather than risking half-hearted releases.
Adding to the complexity, Dil Raju, who holds significant stakes in Sankranthi releases, is distributing three out of five movies, namely 'Guntur Kaaram,' 'Naa Saami Ranga,' and 'Saindhav' in the Nizam region. The urgency to resolve the scheduling deadlock is paramount for Dil Raju, who has invested substantially in these films and needs to recover his funds swiftly. The distributor concludes that a negotiation with producers is necessary to clear the roadblock, benefiting not only Dil Raju but also other distributors in Telangana.
