Superstar Rajinikanth has roared his way back to his throne with 'Jailer' this year. While there were many comments about his stardom due to the results of his films in recent years, Rajini scored a resounding hit with 'Jailer' which amassed Rs 600+ Crores worldwide. The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar who was shot to fame with Sivakarthikeyan starrer 'Doctor'.
Nelson has been lauded for presenting Rajinikanth in a role that suits his age yet in a menacing manner. Speaking to scribes, he revealed about the challenge he faced while making Jailer. Nelson said that while he was writing the film and during the pre-production stage, many warned him about one thing, not to show Rajinikanth as an old man with white hair.
Nelson said that even from close industry circles told him to avoid showing Rajinikanth in white hair as an old man. He also said that at one stage he even gave a serious thought about it but finally decided to follow his instinct. Nelson expressed that he gained confidence after shooting the film for ten days and proceeded with the idea of presenting Rajinikanth in a role reflecting his age.
After its release, many opined that presenting Rajinikanth according to his age worked well with the film. Thalaivar played the role of a retired Jailer, Muthuvel Pandian in the film. Ramya Krishna, Thamannaah, Vinayakan, and Ashwin Ravi played other key roles in the film. Anirudh's rousing music played one of the key roles in the film's success.
