Ananya on muting trolls. Ananya Panday recently opened up about her proactive approach to mental well-being, revealing that she has initiated the process of unfollowing and muting social media pages that evoke feelings of 'anxiety, sadness, or unhappiness.' In a candid interview with Elle India, the 'Liger' actor reflected on her upbringing during a time when social media and phones didn't dominate every aspect of life.
Addressing the contemporary digital landscape, Ananya acknowledged the constant overflow of information on the internet, emphasizing the uncertainty of its impact on users. She expressed, "I still believe I’ve had it easier because I had a childhood without phones. Things are tougher for teenagers these days as it can be easy to seek validation from social media."
Highlighting the subtle but significant influence of negativity, she elaborated, "It slowly creeps up on you, and that negativity starts building up. Which is why I’ve started muting and unfollowing pages that make me feel anxious, sad, or unhappy in any way — I have grown quite ruthless."
In addition to her social media detox strategy, Ananya shared a personal coping mechanism. She revealed that spending time alone and listening to her own voice has a calming effect. "Spending time alone helps me because I’m constantly surrounded by people, advice, and opinions. There’s a lot of background noise, so I spend time by myself and listen to my own voice."
Looking ahead, Ananya Panday is gearing up for her upcoming projects. She will be seen in 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,' co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav. Additionally, she is part of Vikramaditya Motwane's untitled cybercrime-thriller, showcasing her versatility as an actor. Ananya's candid insights not only shed light on the challenges of navigating the digital age but also emphasize the importance of self-care and mental health awareness in the entertainment industry.
