Filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi, renowned for directing films like Dhoom and Dhoom 2, has passed away. Gadhvi made his directorial debut in 2000 with “Tere Liye“, which he followed up with 2002’s “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai“, his first project with Yash Raj Films. The filmmaker shot to fame with Dhoom franchise. He had helmed Dhoom (2004) and Dhoom 2 (2006).
Reportedly, the director suffered a heart attack. It is reported that he was 56 and was set to turn 57 in three days. The news was confirmed by his daughter, Sanjina Gadhvi. “He passed away at 9.30 am this morning at his residence. We are not sure what it is, but it is most likely a heart attack. He wasn’t unwell, he was perfectly healthy," told his daughter. He was taken to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital , where he was declared brought dead.
Sanjay directed quite a few films made under the Yash Raj Films banner. He also directed Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan and Minissha Lamba-starrer Kidnap in 2008, Arjun Rampal-starrer Ajab Gazabb Love in 2012 and Amit Sadh and Rahul Dev-starrer Operation Parindey in 2020.
