The original "Indian" (1996) revolved around the character Senapathy, an aging vigilante and freedom fighter who took it upon himself to eliminate corrupt government officials. Even when he discovered that his own son was involved in corruption as a brake inspector, Senapathy remained resolute, putting his duty to the nation above personal emotions. The first film featured outstanding performances by Sukanya, Manisha Koirala, and Goundamani.

In "Indian 2," Shankar paints a stark portrait of India that's even more tainted by corruption than before. The film deftly contrasts the opulent lives of corrupt politicians with the struggles of everyday citizens. As societal unrest escalates, a collective desire for the return of the Indian vigilante emerges, with the hashtag #ComeBackIndian trending on social media. Kamal Haasan's transformation for the role is remarkable, showcasing more intricate makeup and a rougher appearance compared to the first installment.

The teaser also provides glimpses of other prominent actors in the film, such as Siddharth, who appears to play the role of a naive common man in "Indian 2." Bobby Simha takes on the character of a police officer, while Shankar has ingeniously found a way to include the late actor Vivekh in the movie, ensuring his presence is maintained. Priya Bhavani Shankar portrays a journalist in the film, and a brief but impactful appearance by Rakul Preet Singh adds to the excitement surrounding the movie.
