Amravathi Farmers plight on the Silver Screen. Filmmakers are increasingly drawn to portraying real-life issues, taking cues from Bollywood director Vivek Agnihotri, who delivered 'The Kashmir Files.' In a similar vein, Telugu filmmaker Bhanu Shankar is reported to be embarking on a powerful cinematic journey with 'Amaravati Files,' a film that seeks to shed light on the pain and suffering endured by thousands of farmers in the Amaravati region of Andhra Pradesh.

The backdrop of this compelling narrative revolves around the protests that erupted among the farmers of Amaravati and its surrounding areas. These protests were triggered by the state government, led by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's proposal to alter the status of Amaravati from a single capital to a tripartite administrative arrangement, encompassing Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Kurnool. This decision compelled the farming families to take to the streets and stage demonstrations, a struggle that persisted for over 600 days, as relayed by reliable sources.

Director Bhanu Shankar, known for his previous works such as 'Raju Maharaju,' 'Ardhanaari,' and 'RDX Love,' is dedicated to delivering a gripping saga that portrays the plight of these hapless farmers. These farmers had, in good faith, relinquished a substantial 33,000 acres of their land through the Land Pooling Scheme during the Telugu Desam Party regime. Land pooling, a collective effort by landowners to provide their land for government infrastructure development, is a key aspect of this storyline. The film will explore their journey, highlighting the sacrifices they made and the hardships they faced in their pursuit of progress.

What sets 'Amaravati Files' apart is its deliberate choice of an all-new cast, eschewing established actors in favor of fresh faces. This decision was made to maintain the raw and realistic essence of the narrative, ensuring that it remains untethered from the baggage of previous works carried by established actors. The film, in its entirety, is envisioned as a reflection of the relentless struggle of these farmers against a formidable state administration, promising to be a powerful and authentic depiction of their ordeal.
