Heavy Rains accompanied by strong winds have hit the normal life in commercial capital of Vijayawada, disrupting power and drinking water supply in several parts since last night.Many areas here were without electricity since Sunday night as trees uprooted by the winds have snapped electric wires.The sudden downpour had people wading in knee-deep water on their way home from workplaces. Traffic huffed and puffed at several places like route No 5, Siddhartha Circle, Pinnamaneni Poly Clinic Road, Satynarayanapuram and Gandhinagar.
Power supply was affected in many parts of city. Several low-lying areas in the city were waterlogged due to rains even as the weatherman predicted more rains in the area.Normal life in the city was badly affected owing to water logging. Several areas of the city were also experiencing erratic power supply, which also affected water supply.
The weatherman had forecast light to moderate thundershowers at a few places in Rayalaseema and in the districts of Nellore and Prakasam over the next 24 hours. Isolated rains or thundershowers are also likely to occur over Telangana districts and rest of the coastal districts.
