India’s strict lockdown measures, such as severing transport links, have taken a toll on the nation’s estimated 100 million Migrant Workers, triggering an exodus from cities where they worked in garment factories, building sites and brick kilns. National Highways witnessing thousands of Migrant Workers walking on roads to each their homes.

Recently, central government arranged few trains in the major cities to bring the Migrant Workers back home. Still, large number of people are stuck in the city with no idea what to do.

Meanwhile, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao last night announced that the state government will start sending Migrant Workers back to their home states in special trains from Tuesday onwards. Just few hours before the announcement, about 1,500 Migrant Workers, mainly from north India, had hit the streets of Hyderabad in protest on Sunday night, demanding to be sent back.

On the same day, three new coronavirus cases were reported in the state, while 40 other patients recovered from it. This is a great decision considering the plight o the Migrant Workers.
