Hyderabad, Feb 2: The state government will increase the compensation for the families of those killed in Naxal violence from Rs one lakh to Rs 5 lakh, stated Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Tuesday.After attending a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on ‘Development of naxal influenced areas in the state,’ the Home Minister said the meeting has decided to increase compensation to Rs 5 lakhs. The government would also provide a job to one member in the victims’ family.

If the family member is not qualified to get a government service, the government would give additional compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the victims’ family, she added.The meeting was attended by Director General of Police R R Girish Kumar, Minister for Revenue Dharmana Prasada Rao and Higher Education & NRI Affairs Minister Sridhar Babu.Indra Reddy also promised to provide jobs for family members of nine security personnel,

who were killed in encounter at Balimela Hydel project in Malkangiri district of Orissa in last December.The naxals planned to disrupt power generation and damage infrastructure of the hydel project on Dec 19, 2009.The committee also discussed issues relating to rehabilitation of surrendered naxalites, compensation against the houses and other properties damaged by the extremists.
