Khammam, Jan. 20: At least 13 Maoists and another Salwajudum activist were killed in an encounter in Farekgarh forest in Beejapoor district of Chattisgarh in the wee hours of Tuesday.According to sources, as many as 150 Maoists were conducting a meeting in the forest when the police, on the basis of a tip-off, suddenly attacked them. The encounter continued for three hours during which time about 13 Maoists and one Salwajudum activist were killed on the spot and two others sustained injuries.

The deceased and injured were shifted to the hospital at Beejapoor.In a related development, the Andhra Pradesh police in association with the Orissa Crime Branch police interrogated Naxalite Mili alias Subhashree Panda, wife of elusive Maoist leader Sabyasachi Das alias Mili who was recently arrested near Bhubaneswar recently. it was revealed that Mili was in close association with Maoist commander-in-chief Ganapathi alias Mupala Laxman Rao, Kishanji, Sujit and Maoist comrade Kishan Da and was preparing strategies as per their suggestions. The police now believe that Mili is a core Maoist cadre member.The AP police also suspected the involvement of Mili in the Balimela (Chitrakonda) reservoir attack in which several police comandos were killed in water.
