Hyderabad, Dec 4: The State Government on Monday issued a GO banning strikes by the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation for six months.The Government issued the orders as the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of five APSRTC unions, barring the recognised National Mazdoor Union (NMU), has decided launch an indefinite strike on January 5 demanding 22 percent interim relief for one lakh employees on par with the State Government staff.
The commuters heaved a sign of relief with the issuance of the G.O on Monday. The RTC officials estimated that the Corporation will have to bear an additional financial burden of Rs 250 crore if the management agrees to pay the 22 per cent interim relief as demanded by the staff.Meanwhile, the Corporation has decided to operate 3,840 special services between January 8 and January 19 to ease the Makara Sankranti rush.
