Hyderabad,Nov 21: The Central Bureau of Investigation (Cbi), which took over the investigation of the Satyam Computer scam earlier this year, on Saturday arrested its financial auditor Prabhakar Gupta and produced before the designated Cbi court which remanded him in custody till Nov 26.The Cbi court also rejected the bail plea of Gupta on medical grounds.
Satyam Computer was embroiled in an accounting scandal after its founder,Ramalinga Raju, confessed in January to overstating the software exporter's profits and creating fictitious cash balance of more than $1 billion.The Cbi court, has so far prosecuted 433 witnesses, vetted 1,532 documents and 62 material objects in the case and filed 65,000 chargesheets in connection with the case.
