Hyderabad,Nov 18: Contending that the State Government was apathetic to their grievances and showed no intention of granting their demands despite holding several rounds of talk,the National Mazdoor Union of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation is planning to serve a strike notice to the Government.According to the NMU sources on Wednesday,the union is likely to serve the strike notice to the Government on November 27.It is likely that Apsrtc workers may go on strike from 11 of next month.The NMU leaders who called for an emergency meeting at Bus Bhavan on Wednesday took the decision to serve strike notice to the government.
The NMU leader Mr Mehmood speaking to the media said the union was forced to take this decision as the state government did not react to their demands for over seven months.Stating their demands the NMU leader noted that the union demanded immediate implementation of the pay revision with effect from April 1,2009, regularisation of contract employees and cancellation of appointment of drivers and conductors on contract basis.Meanwhile,it islearnt that the RTC management would act after the workers formally serve the strike notice.The Apsrtc vice chairman and MD S S P Yadav was said to be on leave and not available for comment.
