Hyderabad,Nov 9:To promote solar power generation in Andhra Pradesh,the state will soon launch a Solar City in Anantapur,first of its kind in the Country.AP will emerge as the future capital of Solar Power in India.This was revealed on Monday by AP Chief Minister K Rosaiah at the inaugural meeting of SolarCon India-2009 in Hyderabad.The solar plant will be located in Kadiri area of Anantapur District spread over 10,000 acres of barren land.The CM speaking on the occasion said In our State,we will soon be, bringing out a special policy for Solar Power generation,complimenting the National Solar Mission Policy, to boost the development of Solar Energy sector in the State.Referring to environment the CM explained Green Energy is the order of the day.
It is the responsibility of every country and every citizen to see that our dependence on conventional energy be reduced to the maximum extent possible and to focus our efforts on the development of renewable energy sources.In the context of climate change and global warming Solar Energy has become relevant.’’Expressing optimism the CM said`Andhra Pradesh is emerging as the future capital of Solar Power in India.The state has a prominent presence in the sphere of Solar Energy sector with FABCity,an exclusive cluster created for Semiconductor and Solar PV manufacturing,near the International Airport of Hyderabad.The first Solarcon India event was inaugurated in Hyderabad on Monday,with the participation of 67 exhibitors from 16 countries and over 400 delegates from around the world.
This will be an annual event to be held in Hyderabad here forth to showcase ‘FABCity’ and ‘Solar City’ initiatives of our State Government.Dr.Debesh Das, Minister for Information Technology, Government of West Bengal,Kanna Lakshminarayana, Minister for Major Industries,Andhra Pradesh,.Dan Martin, Executive Vice President, SEMI,BV.Naidu, Chairman, Indian Semiconductor Association and other Senior Officials from State Government were present at the inaugural function.
