Hyderabad, Nov 3 : The police and the paramilitary forces in the state are fully geared up to meet any kind of threat from the Maoists, said Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh, Girish Kumar here on Tuesday.Interacting with the media he said the Maoists activities in the Andhra – Orissa border are intensifying and we are making a note of the latest developments there.He advised the Maoists to leave their guns and shun from violence and asked them to come into the main stream of life.The Maoists are losing the sympathy of the public because they are resorting to violence.
It is better that they realize this mistake and seek for a peaceful means to fight for the cause of their ideologies.Referring to the police in general, the DGP asked the police to be courteous while dealing with the public in general. The police should gain the confidence of the public and dispose off the cases in a dutiful and responsible manner.The DGP who returned after a visit from the Maoist infested areas recently said the call for the two-day bandh given by the Maoists will not be taken lightly.In view of the of the call given by the Maoists for a two-day bandh on November 4 and 5 the police forces in north Andhra districts have been placed on high alert.
Even the combing personnel and the Andhra-Orissa border police stations have been directed to be more vigilant.According to police sources some 200 suspected informers of Maoists have been identified and they are being detained.Sources close to the Maoists say that they are eagerly waiting for an opportunity to have a go at the Andhra Pradesh police. They are on the job to prove their existence in the state.The MLAs in the Agency areas and the VIPs in the north Andhra region have also been alerted and told not to venture into the Agency areas without informing the police.
