Hyderabad, Sept 29 :
Two more persons die of swine flue : toll reaches 50
The Swine Flu pandemic in Hyderabad is showing some encouraging signs of containment, even as two persons died in the city taking the toll to 50 in the state. The two persons died in Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday while undergoing treatment.
Of the 120 samples tested in the last 48 hours, only 19 persons tested positive, which is heartening, given the fact that usually 60 per cent of the samples used to be H1N1 positive.
“The number of patients being tested for Swine Flu positive is decreasing day by day. If the number comes down drastically then we can heave a sigh of relief that Swine Flu has been contained,’’ according to Dr K Subhakar the mediclal officer in charge of the swine flue cases.
According to the health officials, the outpatient wing at Gandhi and Osmania General Hospitals have received less number of patients in the last 48 hours. “This could be due to Dasara festival. There is not much severity in critical cases too. At Chest Hospital, there are no patients on ventilator support,” informed District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr. Ch. Jaya Kumari.
Meanwhile, the district health officials s are launching a mega health camp and an awareness rally on Swine Flu in Secunderabad on October 1. During this rally patients for swine flu will be screened and medicines will also be distributed.
