Chief Coach, National Rowing Team, Ismail Baig on Thursday expressed confidence that sportsmen from the country would perform exceptionally well in the 16th Asian Games scheduled to be held in China from November 12 to 27.
Talking to media persons after the conclusion of practice session for the Rowing team at Hussain Sagar Lake in the city, Mr Ismail Baig said the prospects of the Indian team to get medals in Rowing were brighter this time around as the team members had undergone rigorous training session.
The Chief Coach revealed that 28 members (both men and women) have participated in the training session.
Sruthi Kamat from Chennai, one of trainees who underwent practice at the camp, hoped to bag a Gold Medal in the Asian Games. She said “We will do our best to get Gold Medal in the rowing competitions”.
After completing training in Chennai, Sruthi said she came to the city for undergoing further training under the National coach Ismail Baig, to overcome all the shortcomings she has.
Priya, a junior rowing gold medal winner, also expressed similar feelings and hoped to win a Medal in the Games.
Jaleel Krishnan from Kerala, who participated in Asian games twice, stated China, Japan and Germany would give a tough fight for the Indian team in the Games. He said that, “this time I aim to win gold” in the competition.
Ranjit Singh from Punjab also underwent training in the session. The team members are leaving Hyderabad on November 7 to participate in the Asian Games in China.
