Malayalam hero Unnimukundan, who is also familiar with Telugu audiences with Bhaagamathie and Yashoda is now in deep trouble. A sexual harassment case has been lodged against him in the year 2017. Unnimukundan condemned these as false allegations and filed a countercase. He when to the Kerala high court to give him a clean chit. Kerala high court issued a stay, in this case, this year in February. But, now it withdrew its stay on the case. This landed Unnimukundan in trouble.
On May 23, the Kerala High Court rejected Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan's plea in a sexual assault case that was filed in 2017. In 2017, a woman filed a sexual harassment case against Unni Mukundan stating that she had visited his home in Kochi to discuss a movie project and the actor allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. She reported that the incident took place on August 23, 2017, and she filed the case on September 15, 2017.
Unnimukundan filed a counter-complaint against her and stated that these were false allegations and that the woman had demanded Rs 25 lakh in order not to file a case against him. Unni Mukundan then filed complaints in the magistrate and sessions courts to quash the case. There was a complaint by the woman's counsel earlier that the actor had filed a forged affidavit in court stating that the two parties had arrived at a settlement. The Kerala HC had granted a stay on the case based on this affidavit that a settlement had been reached. On May 23, the court observed that since this was not the case, the trial could proceed.
Unni Mukundan has had successive hits in recent times. His last film Malikappuram did very well in theatres grossing over Rs 100 crore reportedly. In April Unni Mukundan met PM Narendra Modi during his visit to Kerala.
