Statues, Madness, and Controversies

Idol worship reaching insane heights. It is known that Indians are emotionally driven and when they get connected to a celebrity, be it a politician, film personality, or sports player they go to any extent to make them happy. Even after their death, they come up with crazy ideas like erecting statues.

Knowing these political parties, fan clubs play on their sentiment. Congress always plays on the emotional card talking about the family ideology and till sometime back erected statues of Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi etc and in the process ignored other freedom fighters.

BJP tried to take advantage of it, by coming up with statues of the leaders ignored by Congress, like Sardar Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and Veer Savarkar. Coming to Tamil Nadu, the DMK and AIADMK came up with statues of MGR,Periyar, Karunanidhi, Jayalalithaa, and others.

TDP started having statues of its founding president, Sr Ntr. YSRCP took it to another level with Jagan going on Odarpu Yatra and installing his father YSR's statue at each and every junction across AP and Telangana. Now this is increasing to insane heights with TDP planning centenary celebrations of Sr Ntr. While there is nothing wrong, the decision of Minister Puvvada Ajay to come up with a statue of Sr Ntr as Lord Krishna at Khammam.

What trend they are setting showing Sr Ntr as Lord Krishna? There is no denying the fact that Sr Ntr made a lasting impression with his performances as Lord Krishna and Lord Rama. However, he cannot be the Ultimate God replacing Lord Krishna and Lord Rama. If supporters of Ntr love him, they can construct temples wherever they want but portraying as Lord Ram and Lord Krishna and forcing people to do the same erecting statue of him as Lord Krishna is highly deplorable and condemnable. This is insulting the sentiments of Hindus. Can they do the same erecting Ntr statue as Jesus or Prophet?
