Adipurush Creativity: Divinity or Impiety?

Tensions over Adi Purush's final outcome. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon's Adipurush directed by Om Raut, when launched excited everyone and people felt that it will create wonders at the box office. The way Om Raut spoke highly of Lord Ram and how he envisioned Prabhas in the role increased the intensity levels.

Movie lovers waited eagerly for each and every update but all their excitement came down crashing when the teaser was released. Everyone got a huge shock by the VFX and CG work and the showcasing of Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan in the roles of Ram, Sita, and Rawan.

Even the way Hanuman was shown invited the wrath of all. Not only movie lovers blamed the makers for the caricaturish nature of the VFX but also the way they portrayed Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Rawan, and Hanuman made everyone angry. Many political leaders and religious organizations approached courts seeking directions to prevent the makers from proceeding and releasing the film.

This forced the makers to postpone the film's release by six months and a couple of days back they released the film's trailer. After all the negativity, the makers who released the trailer with huge fears, are pleasantly surprised with the tremendous positive response. People lauded the much improved VFX and the way they elevated the heroism of Lord Ram with Prabhas showing his royal look. The background music and the song Jai Sri Ram reverberated in the souls of all. Even those who earlier criticized started praising the filmmakers.

Now the question is will Adipurush makers' creativity result in divinity or impiety? It is known that Lord Ram is known to be extremely cool and never showed his anger even on his enemies. Even when his opponents provoked him, he remained calm and never delivered powerful dialogues or thundered on anyone. Only on one or two occasions, he got ready to show his rage, and that too when Sea God did not support for the floating of the rocks to construct the Ram Sethu.

But here, Prabhas as Lord Ram is seen uttering "“Aaj mere liye mat ladna uss din ke liye ladna jab itihaas mein tumhara naam padhkar sanmaan se sarr jhukkar jayenge” “Ladoge toh aage badho aur gaadh do ahinkar hi chaati mein vijay ka bhagwa dhawj” ". These dialogues make one feel that the makers of Adi Purush drew inspiration from Prabhas' impactful dialogues in Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali.

This is in sharp contrast to the portrayal of Lord Ram. Though the trailer more than made up for the faults in the teaser, still people are unable to connect with Ram having a mustache and wearing some fancy dress kind of attire. Telugu movie lovers visualize Sr NTR, Sobhan Babu, and others in the role of Lord Ram and it has to be seen how far Prabhas will make a name for himself as Lord Ram with his mustache in their hearts. All eyes are on whether Adi Purush's creativity results in divinity or impiety and it all depends on Prabhas' look of Ram with a mustache. Tensions are still in the minds and hearts of the Adi Purush team.
