Will Dhanush succeed where Vijay failed

Will Dhanush succeed where Vijay failed? This is the most discussed topic across Kollywood and Tollywood. It is known that Dil Raju after Vamsi Paidipally won the national award with Super Star Mahesh Babu's Maharshi, decided to team with Thalapathy Vijay and capture the imagination of all. Dil Raju and Vamsi Paidipally promoted the bilingual Varisu which was released in Telugu as Vaarasudu as a straight Tamil film.

Even then despite the film raking in record collections in Kollywood failed to set the screens on fire in Tollywood. Even though the film got good collections, Tamil Tambis couldn't digest the fact that their top star Thalapathy Vijay teamed with a Telugu director Vamsi Paidipally. They made fun of Vamsi Paidipally's accent and also the way he promoted the film saying ' Fights irukku, comedy irukku,romance irukku' etc.

People trolled the film branding it as a soap opera and Vamsi Paidipally lashed at those who branded his film  Varisu as a sop opera. Vijay in the meanwhile silently shifted to his next film Leo under the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Now Dhanush is facing the litmus test with Vaathi which is releasing in Telugu as SIR. The film is directed by Venky Atluri. The film is releasing on 17 February and Dhanush is known for choosing different genre and thought-provoking films. The film is a powerful take on educational mafia and one gets a feeling of Arjun's Gentleman directed by Shankar. The question is will Tamil Tambis accept Venky Atluri, a Telugu director directing their hero? Can Dhanush pass the litmus test where Vijay failed.
