For long Tollywood moviemakers have been naming their projects with English titles. While the makers of other languages concentrated on naming their films in their own languages and the Tamil Nadu government encouraged the makers by giving subsidies to the makers who name their films in their own language, Tollywood often preferred to name their films with English titles for universal appeal.

However, of late it seems that English titles are becoming the bane for Tollywood. Most of the films with English titles were bombed at the box office. Mohan Babu's Son of India, Ram's The Warrior, Naga Chaitanya's Thank  You, Nagarjuna's The Ghost, Raj Tharun's Stand Up Rahul, Keerthy Suresh's Good Luck Sakhi, Dil Raju's nephew's Rowdy Boys, Tapsee's Mishan Impossible, Lavanya Tripathi's Happy Birthday, MS.Raju's 7 Days 6 Nights, Virgin Story,10th Class Diaries, Boyfriend For Hire, High Way, The American Dream, High Fives and others.

It has to be seen whether the makers will change their thought process or will a few films with English titles become hits and revive the industry.
