Mass Raja Raviteja's Khiladi which hit the screens yesterday amidst huge expectations failed to live up to it. The film directed by Ramesh Varma banked solely on Raviteja's mass mannerisms, energetic performance and the glamor of Dimple Hayathi and Meenakshi Chaudhary.
In the meantime, it is coming out that controversies are hovering around Khiladi. It is known that the makers released the film in Hindi also. However this did not go down well with producer Ratan Jain who filed a case against the Khiladi makers. Ratan Jain produced Akhay Kumar's action entertainer titled Khiladi which released in 1992. He alleged that Raviteja copied the title of his hit film. It has to be seen how the makers react to this case.
Just before the release of the film, rumours spread over the differences between Raviteja and director Ramesh Varma. Raviteja claimed that he did the film only due to Srikanth Vissa who provided the story for the film.
Ramesh Varma's wife, Sweety Varma shocked all by branding Raviteja as a cheap star. She pulled out the tweet made by RX 100 director Ajay Bhupati and said “Now understand why director Ajay Bhupathi called him a cheap star,” and added “Aratipandlu meeku baga vachu anukunta theeyadam. Director garu next time classis thiskondi RT daggara. Aratichetlu nariki echina saripoledu RT ki.”
