Will Tollywood witness Sankranti releases?

Right after the postponement of Rajamouli's RRR and Prabhas' Radhe Shyam, many filmmakers linedup their films for release during Sankranti. Apart from Nagarjuna's Bangarraju, films like ''DJ Tillu',Rowdy Boys', 'Super Machi', '6 Nights 7 Days', 'Hero' braced themselves for the Sankranti slot for January 14 or 15.

However, with the rise in omicron cases and the increased restrictions imposed by various states, speculation is increasing whether Tollywood will witness Sankranti releases in 2022. Already AP government announced night curfew and this prevents the theatres from screening the second show. Now that the 50% occupancy back in the theatres and already reduced ticket rates, it will be extremely difficult for the films to enter into breakeven in Andhra Pradesh.

The situation in Telangana is little better but things are changing rapidly and one cannot be sure how the situation will be after 5-6 days. So for the present the makers and movie lovers are keeping their fingers crossed.
